February 1 2011 UEN

One element of UEN that I am excited to intergrate into my classroom are the interactives. I really like these because I like the idea of education being a fun experience. In this day and age studnets learn really well thorugh images and pictures. A lot of these interactives appeal to these tpyes of intelligencies. I don't see myslef putting a lot of weight on these assignments if not use them simply as extra credit.
I really like the area of the website that leads to the digital utah newspaper. I plan on involving a lot of current events into the classroom. The will be a perfect venue to integrate the current local news into the classroom. I am envisioning a lot of responses and proposed solutions to the problems addressed in the newspaper.
To piggyback off of the last item that I mentioned there is a section of UEN that deals specifically with the Utah State Office of Education. I would like my studnets to be more involved and informed about the legislations involved in the education here in Utah. I would plan a lesson around letters and writing persuasivly with these websites.
Another section of the webiste that will be exremly helpful in my future classrooms are the links to the heritage of utah websites. There are a number of sites that are designed to inform the reader about the counties and history of utah. This would be a great way to introduce students into biography or autobioraphies.
